The Next Big Thing

Remember when I told you to save the date, June 30, 2005? Well, here's hoping you did, because the big news we've been sitting on at DCist for God knows how long is finally REVEALED. Join the DCist crew in three weeks for our biggest throwdown yet, as we take over the Black Cat backstage to bring local rock and roll goodness to you: the people, in this: Washington, DC area. Unbuckled is the first in a series of DCist sponsored concerts featuring the best in local rock, patterned off the Mothership's excellent Movable Hype series. We couldn't be more pleased to kick this series off with two of DC's finest acts, Cartel and the Bicycle Thieves--both crazy good, both rightfully beloved. We'll also feature DCist Editor and Bluestater [Information Leafblower] behind the decks to keep you in music during your stay. Plus lots of great giveaways at the show, including concert tickets and DCist Tees in the same style as Tiny Factory's Gothamist shirts. Tickets are a mere $7. Take your Friday off, right now, and begin a long and lovely 4th of July Weekend by joining us!

OK, you have hit a new low. If Cartel is your choice for an indie band representing the DC scene, we're all in big trouble. Just a completely lame, Coldplay wannabe band. Your taste in bands is inexcusable.

Well, enjoy the Bicycle Thieves then, and when Cartel plays you can do your own personal air-raid drill while whimpering: "We're ALL in big trouble!" As long as you have fun!
